INTRODUCTION

EdintheClouds offers a range of services aimed at helping you and your school embrace technology-enhanced learning.  Whether you are just beginning to develop your strategy, or need advice on how to leverage your existing assets, we can help.

Our expertise lies in the introduction of cloud technologies in general, and in Google Apps for Education in particular.  Google’s platform provides you with an elegant and coherent strategy which means that your users, the apps and services they use, and the many and varied devices they work on, can all be managed in a single web-based interface from anywhere.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR YOUR SCHOOL?

Your school is at the heart of a network of stakeholder groups - learners, teachers, staff, parents, governors, friends and many others - who are all interested in different facets of your school’s life.  Google Apps provides you with the tools to build a coherent approach to communication, collaboration and learning, allowing you to assemble the various platforms, resources and communication channels you need.  These might include, for instance:

  • A learning hub or hubs for the many and varied groups of learners in your school;

  • A Governors’ portal;

  • A Friends’ Association or PTA resource centre;

  • ePortfolios for students;

  • Student work- and homework-management tools;

  • A public-facing website;

  • Private teacher best-practice communities;

  • An online staffroom.

This is far from an exhaustive list.  In fact, with the modular and extensible Google Apps toolkit, if you can imagine it, you can probably build it.  And all without needing specialist technical expertise.

EdintheClouds will get you up and running, and hold your hand every step of the way until you feel comfortable running things without us.  Exactly when - or indeed if - that happens is completely up to you. Work smarter.  Improve teaching and learning.  Save money.

THE COMPLETE EDINTHECLOUDS PROGRAMME

The complete EitC programme includes an initial phase of thirteen weeks (or longer if appropriate) - where we will work with you to agree the vision, assess the current situation, agree the goals, set up the virtual school and its resources, inspire the staff and give them their first training session.

This is then followed by a rolling, one-term-at-a-time, training, assessment and review programme aimed at improving your people’s skills, rewarding progress and mastery, and tweaking the programme in the light of new possibilities both technological and pedagogical.

We can help you set up your Google Apps for Education account from scratch, and add users, services and devices, develop resources and train your people.  If, however, you don’t need the whole programme, the following services are also available on a daily rate basis:

  • GAfE Audit: we carry out an audit of your existing Google Apps for Education implementation and suggest changes.

  • Technical audit: we carry out an audit of your existing networking and device and offer objective advice in line with your stated vision and strategy.

  • Skills audit: we carry out a review of the technology-related skills and attitudes of your people and make suggestions accordingly.

  • Training: we work with your people to help them improve their individual and collective productivity and apply their new knowledge to new and engaging approaches to teaching and learning.

COSTS

Phase One  (the impact phase, lasting at least 13 weeks or one term) costs £3000, to include on-site and remote sessions.  There will be at least one day at the outset for the ‘Plan’ phase (Steps 1-3) and one at the end of the programme for the ‘Learn’ phase, when the staff training sessions take place.  In between those two visits, work will be carried out remotely to cover the ‘Setup’ and ‘Build’ phases.  The great majority of this work is performed by EdintheClouds, but a series of challenges and tasks will be set along the way which will keep the school engaged in the process as the online school evolves.

Phase Two (the long tail) costs £1000 per term (assuming three terms per year), to include one day on-site for training every term and one hour per week of remote support.  This is for skill top-ups, 1:1 and small-group surgeries and demonstrating new tools and techniques - there is always something new and interesting to show.

Additional on-site support and other services available at £300 per half-day / £500 per day.  Additional remote support available at £50 per hour.

All prices net of VAT.  Travel charged at 45p per mile.
